The IU Women’s Tennis team had a full weekend. The Hoosiers held the Adidas Classic at the Indiana University Tennis Center. Where they hosted both Colorado and Ball State. The Classic started at 10 am on Saturday where IU played Colorado first. The Hoosiers won the doubles portion by 2-0. Doubles partners Nicole Teodosescu and Lara Schneider on court one, where they defeated Colorado 7-6 (7-3). As well as doubles partners Sarah L’allier and Li Hsin Lin on court three, where they defeated Colorado 7-5. After they won court two went unfinished.
The singles of the day were where emotions ran high. Once again multiple courts went to a third set or a tiebreaker to determine the winner. Hoosier Nicole Teodosescu won her match on court two after going into a third set. She won 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Ultimately, Colorado won the match by 4, making the final score 4-2 for the day’s first match.
When the Hoosiers returned at 6 pm, their match against the Ball State Cardinals went in the Hoosier’s favor. In the doubles half of the match doubles partners Lara Schneider and Nicole Teodosescu returned on court one and won their match 6-1. As well as doubles partners Sarah L’allier and Li Hsin Lin also returned to win their match by 6-4 on court three. The Hoosiers ended the doubles portion win a lead of 2-0.
The singles were where the Hoosiers got their win against the Cardinals. Hoosier Li Hsin Lin on court five won her match 6-1, 6-0. Both Nicole Teodosescu and Elisabeth Dunac won their matches when the Cardinals retired from the match. Making the end score of the match 4-0 for the Hoosiers.
Doubles partners Schneider and Teodosescu, as well as L’allier and Lin now have a home winning streak of three matches. And in singles freshman Elisabeth Dunac has a record of 8-1 on the season. The Hoosiers were also supported by their fellow teammate Chase Boyer whose birthday was on Saturday.
The IU Women’s team has a new record of 5-7 on the season after the Adidas Classic. The Hoosier is looking forward to hosting Cornell on Sunday, Feb 25, at the IU Tennis Center. They have a 5-0 record against Cornell, and it will be the last match before the Big Ten begins.
